Weekly Update

17 May 2021 (by admin)

Dear parents and carers,

Eid Mubarak! I wanted to send warm wishes to our Muslim families as they have now come to the end of the Ramadan (period of fasting).  It has been wonderful to hear that so many children have been interested in this period of time and what it means.  Please do send in any photographs for us to show in assembly on Friday.

It looks set to be a rainy week in school and we will try to get the children outside as much as possible.  Please can I urge you to send your children in, even if against their wishes, with waterproof coats.

Thank you to all of the parents who attended the MyOn reading session last week.  Statistics gathered on the 11th May showed the following minutes spent reading on MyOn from the 1st May:

FS = 11 minutes from 1 child

Yr 1 = 473 minutes from 15 children

Yr 2 = 254 minutes from 8 children

Yr 3 = 1320 minutes from 30 children

Yr 4 = 2740 minutes from 58 children

Yr 5 = 2170 minutes from 35 children

Yr 6 = 1180 minutes from 18 children

Finally, over the next six weeks we will be assessing your children to give them their end of year result.  This will conclude with formal testing in the last few weeks of the year.

Please can I ask that you do not remove your children for holidays.  They have missed so much time off of school due to the lockdown and I am looking closely at the impact of this on results.  The impact on the whole school will be shared with parents as soon as this work is completed. So far, our attendance for this year is looking very positive and this needs to continue despite the lockdown easing nationally.

Thank you for all of your support and encouragement.
