Toy Hunt
This term in Year 1 all of our learning will be based around the theme ‘Belonging’. Over this first term we will be thinking about what it means to belong in our class and school.
On Wednesday (6th September) we received an unusual message in the classroom which sent us on a mystery hunt around the school! We followed the clues and eventually we found toys who wanted to belong in our class with us! Buzz Lightyear and Woody have been making themselves at home in Year 1.
We drew a map of our journey following the clues around the school. Then we looked at and drew some of the other toys in Toy Story.
As part of our toys topic we would like the children to bring in a favourite toy on Monday 16th September. We will be discussing their favourite toys and drawing pictures of them.
Many thanks.
Year 1 team
Dear Parents,
This morning Year 1 went on a treasure hunt and discovered our new class toys! This links to our toys topic for this half term. 1C have a Buzz Lightyear toy and 1HR have a Woody toy from Toy Story. Throughout this half term each child will get the chance to take our class toy home for the night. The toy will also come with a book in which your child (or you on behalf of your child) can write about what they did with the toy that evening. They can also include photos and pictures. We hope the children will enjoy having the toys as guests in their homes!
Next week we will be revising multiplication and division in maths. We will be problem solving by looking at real-life contexts where these skills are needed. As part of this we will be looking at boxes of cakes and sharing chocolate as these were problems encountered in the children's recent PUMA test. It seemed mean to not let the children have a taste if we were bringing them in! Children will be allowed a small amount of 'french fancy' cake and some chocolate. If your child has allergies which mean they cannot have tthese items please let one of the Year1 team know before or on Monday.
Just a reminder for Year 1 children to bring in a photo of themselves as a baby tomorrow. This is part of our 'Changing Me' topic so the children can compare how they were as a baby to now. Please label the photograph with your child's name on the back to ensure we can return them.
Also, we still require a few parent helpers for our trip to the park next Wednesday 10th. Please let us know ASAP if you would be available to help. Thank you.
