Autumn 1 update
This year we have adapted the role of Pupil SEND ambassadors to Pupil Inclusion Ambassadors to look at both special education needs and children's emotional wellbeing. We have two Pupil Inclusion Ambassadors this year who are Emily (Cairo) and Penny (Lima) and they are both looking forward to getting started with their job. This week in assembly I shared information from the National Autistic Society all about autism. I spoke to the children about how autism can be hidden and how autism means that someone's brain works a little differently to others and that is ok. We looked at videos to help identify how autistic people may present and discussed how we might support classmates who are autistic. I hope that this assembly helps the children to understand some of the challenges an autistic person may go through when at school and how they can support. I will share the links for the videos shown in the powerpoints on the website over half term for parents to access.

Autumn 2 update
This half term our focus was on ADHD which stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. Our amazing inclusion Ambasadors created an assembly to share what ADHD is and how we can support our peers with ADHD. In key stage 1 we shared the book Austin has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. In key stage 2 we shared a video with the children which you can see below and we also looked at celebrities who have ADHD. The aim of these assemblies was to highlight again some challenges people with ADHD can face as well as how both staff and other children can support them. Next term we will focus on mental health in our assemblies.

Penny came up with our Winter challenge which was to design a snowflake. The tag line was 'Every snowflake is different and everyone is different. We challenged children from year 1 to year 6 to create a unique snowflake and each Inclusion Ambassador selected a winner which was announced in our assembly. Please see below for all the wonderful entries.
Our Winners were
Emily in year 5
Sammy in year 3
Anahita in year 4
Helena in year 3
Charvy in year 4
Spring 1 update
This half term we focused on 'worries'. We shared a story with both key stages called Wilbur the Worry Monster and discussed how this links to our 'My Happy Mind' units the children have been completing in class. It was amazing to hear how much the children have learnt about their brains and how the different parts work. Below are the main parts of the brain the children have learnt about.
Hippocampus - is like a scrap book storing our memories and things that we learn.
Amygdala - is there to react to keep us safe when there is danger. It cannot assess danger
though, it can only react if it senses it by fi ghting, freezing or fl ighting!
Prefrontal cortex - Helps us to make decisions, understand different perspectives, solve problems, analyse and make choices
The Inclusion Ambassadors created a worry monster challenge this half term. We had some brilliant entires. The eight winners were:
Rory in Madrid
Ariel in Budapest
Sammy in Ankara
Gabriella in Lima
Izzy in Nairobi
Ikra in New Delhi
Penny in Lima
Jan in Budapest
