Trip to Sea City Museum
On 29th November, the children in Year 2 visited Sea City Museum in Southampton to find out more about the Titanic. They took part in a workshop where they did a demonstration to explain why the Titanic sunk, matched smells to different parts of the Titanic, looked at artefacts from the time of the Titanic and chose who should get on a lifeboat.
They also had the opportunity to explore the Titanic exhibition and take part in some of the hands-on activities.
The children went to forest school to consolidate their learning in Science and Design & Technology. Their Science topic is materials and they have been learning to make strong and stable structures in Design & Technology. The children were challenged to make mini adventure playgrounds that were strong and stable. They explained the materials they chose to use and how they ensured it was strong and stable. They had great fun, despite the mud!

Dear parents/carers,
We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year, and we look forward to seeing you all back at school tomorrow for the spring term.
I am contacting to inform you that Miss Facey will be leaving us at Easter as she is having a baby. I am sure you will join me in congratulating her and we will be excited to meet her new arrival soon. To reassure you going forward, Miss Wilkinson, one of our regular cover teachers who knows the school and children very well, will be covering the class for the summer term whilst Miss Facey is off. Miss Wilkinson is an excellent teacher who will do a very comprehensive handover with Miss Facey before she leaves. You will have the opportunity to meet her in the spring term but please do come and speak to us if you have any questions.
Kind regards
Mrs Hopkins
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As part of a whole school Harvest art project, Year 2 will be creating a pictures using a range of media.
If you have any spare, coloured magazines, please send them into Madrid and Budapest classes by Monday 19th September. Please ensure the magazines are suitable for 6-7 years olds to view. We will be using the coloured pictures to tear up to create a collage.
Thank you
The Year 2 team
Year 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 have been using TT Rockstars this year to learn and practice their times tables. They were excited to organise a TT Rockstars House Team battle before the end of the term, so we have arranged this for next week. From 9.00am Monday morning next week, until 3.00pm on Thursday, the children can collect points for their house teams by playing on TT Rockstars. The team with the most points will have an extra break on Friday afternoon to celebrate.
The children will have access at school to play TT Rockstars at various points during the day next week, but they may also collect points by playing at home too. The competition will be open each day between the house of 7.30am and 7.30pm, once the competition starts on Monday, so please feel free to encourage your child to have a go at home too.
We will let you know how we get on, and good luck to all the house teams!
